Anyone remember Dues Ex? It was released in 2001 I think and is still on my top 10 list.
It's a RPG/Action game with the best AI and story line in a game of it's type from back then. After seven years a massive modification or more like expansion has just been released. I'm so glad I kept my Dues Ex game and unlike many others that were relegated to the back of a dark cupboard after a few plays, I finished this one.
It's called The Nameless Mod and is bigger than the actual original game. I can't imagine the dedication and work that must have gone into it let alone the determination to finish it. It's totally free and if you were to download the ISO and burn it to DVD it has box art and disc scans plus extra content. They will even send you out the DVD for a small shipping fee.
This had to be a labour of love, for sure.
The authors have even made changes that improve the original games mechanics, has new graphics and much, much more. Since it's an oldie it still looks a bit dated, but there is a team working on replacing all of the textures and some of the meshes etc using the Unreal 3 system. It's fairly close to release and will make Dues Ex look like a more modern game.
This link goes to The Nameless Mod website and has a video on the start page. You can skip it but it's well worth watching.
http://thenamelessmod.com/trailer/This game was huge at the time along with Half Life, but the sequel Dues Ex - The Invisible War was only a shadow of the original and half the length.
EDIT: I just realized I posted this in the wrong section of course. Should be in the Mods for Other Games Thread.
